The Light We Carry Forward
What is AfterLight
AfterLight presents The Calling — a free outdoor light installation at the Denver Performing Arts Complex. Inspired by the spirit of Día de los Muertos, it gathers the names of the people we carry and displays them in light across the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, night after night, for anyone to walk up to and read.
We do not dwell in loss. We celebrate the fullness of the lives that shaped us. AfterLight is where remembrance becomes gratitude, and memory becomes light.

Remembrance begins with a name. Tell us who you carry. It takes a minute, it costs nothing, and you can do it from anywhere — you don’t have to be in Denver.
Names rise into light. Every name we receive becomes part of The Calling, illuminated on the Ellie Caulkins Opera House and gathered on the digital wall here on the site.
The light is meant to be shared. Visit any night we are open, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Pause beneath the illuminated façade, read the names, and honor the lives and connections they represent.
